Suboxone Clinic

Rhonda is a 47 year old woman in our Suboxone program. Rhonda came to us soon after she moved here from Florida. She had fractured her spine 12 years earlier and had gotten hooked on pain pills during her recovery. Over the years, her dose had escalated to where she was taking over 200 mg of Methadone per day. She had found her first husband dead from a methadone overdose so she knew the dangers of this medicine. She, herself, had come close to dying. She felt the Suboxone clinic may be her last hope.

Rhonda is now doing very well. She has brought several of her friends to our clinic to get off drugs. Suboxone does not make kicking the drug habit easy. It does make it easier.

Dermatology Clinic

Betty is a 65 year old lady who presented to our dermatology clinic with a lesion on her hand that had suddenly started growing and was becoming painful. Although it had been there for about 3 weeks, it was already about ½ inch in diameter. This lesion looked like a squamous cell skin cancer. It was removed during that first visit by numbing the skin and shaving the lesion off with a razor blade. The pathologist confirmed that it was a squamous cell cancer and that there was some that went deeper into the skin and remained after the shave biopsy. Betty returned and the entire lesion was removed. She has now healed and there is barely any scar visible.

She is pleased that she was able to walk in and get her problem taken care of urgently before the cancer had a chance to grow.

GSC Uninsured Primary Care

“We have gotten the best care since we started with GSC. You can tell the whole staff really cares about their patients. When my husband lost his job last year, we didn’t know what we were going to do about our healthcare. We can’t afford insurance. They are a true Godsend. This organization helps so many Haywood County residents who have nowhere else to turn.”

Suboxone Clinic

"I was addicted to drugs for years. I just didn't want to face it until I found myself doing anything I had to do to get my pain pills for the day. My family was ready to send me away and I was ready to either quit using or die ... Nine months ago I couldn't imagine my life without drugs. I never thought I could quit, but it's like the Suboxone took away the cravings for the drugs. I have been drug-free for nine months, I have a job, and for the first time in so long, I'm happy."

Dermatology Clinic

Speaking about her recent diagnosis of melanoma skin cancer, “I would say to anyone to be very aware of any changes in your skin and have them checked diligently. Dr. Teater said that if I had let it go another three months if would have been too late.”
